At Restaurant Alter Tobelhof, hospitality means more than serving good food – it’s about creating lasting memories. Our leadership team brings together Swiss precision, heartfelt hosting, and a love for honest, regional cuisine. Together, they make sure every visit feels warm, personal, and unforgettable.
Born and raised in Switzerland, Pascal Käser is the organizing mind of the Restaurant. As Operations Manager of Restaurant Alter Tobelhof, he leads the service team, manages the behind-the-scenes operations, and is the key figure in coordinating logistics and processes. He is also head of all administrative affairs and oversees our banquets and events team. With a passion for structure, detail, and smooth execution, Pascal stands for one core belief: Nothing is impossible.
Wiebke Kehmann is the
driving force behind Restaurant Chäsalp, our fondue, raclette, and grill restaurant. As
Operational Manager Chäsalp and passionate host, she brings warmth, attention to detail, and true hospitality to every table. Her goal? That every guest feels welcome from the very first moment – and leaves not only full, but with a smile and a reason to return.
Birger Kehmann, the culinary heart, has been part of the Alter Tobelhof family for over 15 years – he knows the kitchen and the house inside out. As Kitchen Director, he is passionate about seasonal and regional cuisine, with a deep respect for nature and the people behind the ingredients. For Birger, quality comes first – which means no strawberries in winter and no shortcuts in the kitchen. His close relationships with local producers and his love for honest, flavorful cooking are at the heart of everything that comes out of his kitchen.
Alter Tobelhof is located in the small hamlet of the same name, nestled between the Zürichberg and Adlisberg hills. Just a 20-minute walk from Zurich-Fluntern – home to the Zurich Zoo and the elegant Dolder neighborhood – it offers a surprising contrast: so close to the city, yet so wonderfully rural. A patch of countryside within the city limits – or, put simply: a hidden gem in Zurich’s recreational heartland. For over 60 years, Alter Tobelhof has been a beloved destination for both locals and visitors.
Our heritage-listed restaurant is a beautifully preserved timber-framed building with open views of the Glatt Valley’s forests, hills, and neighborhoods. Originally the farmhouse residence, it was lovingly restored in 2015 and 2016 and forms part of a building ensemble with nearly 500 years of history. In fact, the hamlet “Hof ze Tobel” was first mentioned in documents as early as 1315.
Whether you dine in the wood-paneled interiors or relax on the spacious sun terrace next to the meadow, Alter Tobelhof offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle – a true oasis for city dwellers and nature lovers alike.
At Restaurant Alter Tobelhof, people come first – not only our guests, but also our team. With passion and commitment, we offer opportunities to young people, apprentices, and refugees, helping them take their first steps into the professional world. For us, giving someone a perspective is more than a responsibility – it’s a matter of the heart.
With time, patience, and dedication, we guide them through everyday work life, teach new skills, and support them as they build a future. In return, we are rewarded every day with gratitude, motivation, and the joy of learning – enriching not only their lives, but ours as well.
If you happen to be served by someone still learning German or if service feels a little “rough around the edges,” we kindly ask for your understanding. Your patience and support help these young people grow – and for that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
